I decided it was time to upgrade my laptop and looked for several weeks for the right combination of price, hard drive, RAM, Bluetooth, battery, numeric keypad, etc. This laptop has it all. I thought my replacement laptop would be a second Mac since I bought a Mac for my wife six months ago. However with Windows 7 getting good reviews and a price one-third of the cost of an "equivalent" Mac, my decision was what PC did I want. The DV6-1350 has all the features I was looking for including the new DDR3 RAM instead of DDR2 and Bluetooth. I also like having the 12 cell battery pack attached. The extra "bump" on the bottom doesn't bother me. Ergonomically the keyboard is great. My last laptop was an HP and I am pleased with the reliability. I am really liking Windows 7 in it's functionality. It starts up almost instantly from sleep mode. This is great laptop at a very good price.
Great Laptop, Great Price, I'm Happy

I ordered this laptop for high school and college classes i will be attending while in high school. Before i fully review this item please listen to me and disregaurd a couple reviews that have dragged the overall rating down such as the one complaing about the price increase (maybe you should've acted on the major sale when it happened now you have to wait), or the one complaining about the shipping (i picked free shipping and it took 2 days to ship and 2 days to get here (under the amount of time estimated)).
First of all my overall say for this laptop is: I have reasearched of and on for a couple of years and just standing back because i didnt really need one and as of right now after about a week of non-stop searching for the best computer for the money i came across this. When i found it it think it was about $730.00 with a $50 HP rebate bringing the total to $680.00 the next day after comparing and gawking at the pics and specs the price dropped to $680.00 with the $50 HP rebate bringing the total to $620.00. so i searched around found out noboody could beat that price and saw it was available at my local Staples and a car accident later i went home and purchased it. I couldnt be happier.
Pros:
Fast - when you click on something it opens no questions ask just does what its told.
Quiet - Not even the fan has made noise yet.
Battery life
Fast start up - from hibernation and from being turned completely off.
Well built - I feel like i could put my elbows on it and lean (but i wont haha)
Windows 7 - took less than a minute to install a printer that took me 4 hours to install on my XP computer.
Not really any useless space taking preloaded software.
Fast and Easy setup.
Beautiful Design - My friends are jealous!
Remote and storage for remote included - Great for my school presentations
Fast and easy cd/dvd burning and riping
Cons: (Just petty things that dont really matter)
Fingerprint magnet - doesnt really matter or take away from anything
The built-in webcam is kinda fuzzy but thats if you really look close - this can be easily overlooked
Power cord plug-in placement - it wraps around the computer because i have it set so that the outlet is to the left of the wall and the plug is on the right of the computer.
Notes:
When you start it up and set it up and its all ready the first thing you should do is make the recovery disks (it doesn't come with them) incase anything wrong were to happen. All you need are three DVD-R or DVD + R disks and follow the instructions.
About the BIG battery it doesn't really bother me. This is why i went to Staples so i could see if this was really a big deal like people made it seem. I like the angle it puts the laptop on, its easier for me to type on it. It makes a space so that air can go through keeping it cool. The only inconvenience i see is that it could be somewhat awkward to carry around. But again that wont really matter due to the fact that i have the big satchel bag to carry it around in and i think its a fair trade 8 hours of battery life for a simple awkward carrying complication.
Though it is a 320 GB hard drive when you get it it will only have about 250-260 GB (Or at least mine did) on it and thats normal its just windows and the software and the recovery software that HP has on it.
Things i personly like the best about this:
The slideshow background themes
The speed
Quietness
Windows 7 is sooooo simple and clean!
Windows DVD maker is nice for making slideshows with pics and music and putting it all on a disk.
The new windows 7 tricks like putting to windows to the sides to compare and shaking a window to make all of the others disapear.
Fast start up - as opposed from my XP computer start up times have decreased by up to 3-4 minutes no more saying i dont want to go through the trouble of tunring the computer on!
My advice is if your looking for a laptop in this price range get this one. If you can go up in your price range then you can get this same everything with upgraded specs like processor and memory for just a little more but thats your choice.
Good Luck!

To say that shopping for a laptop is a daunting experience nowadays is an understatement. Pick the top four or so manufacturers and start looking at model and configuration options and you will soon be reaching for your favorite calming beverage. The reviews of the dv6-1350us were particularly helpful to me in that they helped focus my search on the features that were important to me: processor, memory, keyboard, DVD drive, wireless features, battery, and weight. The dv6-1350 is a larger laptop and consequently cannot be placed in the class of the highly portable (lightweight) models that are now on the market. However, its 4 GB of memory, full-sized keyboard (number pad), optical drive, 1000BGN wireless, and 12-cell battery (HP is selling them discounted for about $99 today)make this a full-featured and fast computer. It can also be connected to your HDTV for watching Netflix movies, and has a built-in web cam and recorder. With the recent drop in price and $50 rebate, we are talking about a significant laptop for under $600. I couldn't find anything close in terms of features and price. I have had the computer for about a week now, and I am extremely happy with it. It is every bit as fast and user-friendly as the Dell desktop that I purchased about 6 months ago. You won't find any computer that does not have its detractors. However, so far, except for the fact that this is not as light a laptop as others on the market, I have nothing negative to say. Win 7 is a great operating system, and my one call to HP tech support was a good experience, some wait time excepted. That should surprise no one. If the specs and features that I have noted are important to you, you will be happy with this laptop.

I just ordered this yesterday and am up and running. Win7 loads with 60 sec unlike my older HP with XP which now takes anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes. the 12 cell battery is hard to find in a stock configuration, so that, plue 4GB of DDR3, and a 7200rmp hard drive, for this price is what made me buy. I'd like a firewire port too but I see plenty of USB firewire to USB adapters on Amazon. I setup the WIFI as part of the initial boot up (just entered my SSID/code number for my WiFi Lan), then loaded Microsoft Office and Vizio in about 10 minutes and let them register online. Keyboard has a nice feel, typical of HP laptops, and I'll add info to this review after doing some video editing with Pinnacle 9 Plus, Ulead and Sony Vegas. I'm sure I'll want to Upgrade my DDR3 to 8GB so appreciate any suggestions/stats/prices anyone has on that. For now I'm very happy to the quality and features at this price which was impossible to find at another trusted site or store. Now to figure out that $50 rebate!
Great features and performance for the price

I needed a laptop replacement computer quickly and saw this at a great price. Fast processor and large highspeed hard drive--wireless N and Bluetooth. The 12 cell battery is large and heavy but it is great having the extra charge time. My first HP (I have always been a Dell guy) but I could not wait for the build time--especially having to deal with their now poor service. So far--a great value and I would recommend this DV6-1350US Notebook.

If you are like me, you look for the best bang for your buck, while also considering what you will use it for, how fast it will go obsolete and total cost.
For everyone but the hardcore gamer, this laptop will shine.
For those people that get aggrevated at short battery life the 12-cell battery is for you.
So the 12 cell makes it stand up in the back. I wasn't sure about that at first. I actually now prefer it after a few days of use.
The battery adds weight and limits ulta-portability, but you can always buy a 6-cell to make it more portable, although I don't see the problem with a couple extra pounds.
This has the T6600 Core 2 Duo of the new 4 GB of DDR3 memory. Also, this particular laptop is upgradeable to 8 GB of DDR3, so you might be able to get an additional year of good use out of the laptop with an upgrade in a couple years.
I was looking at a lot of laptops and this is the only one in this price range with a 7200 RPM hard drive. It might be a little smaller, but it is going to be faster than the 5400 hard drives in most of the laptops in this range. 320 GB is more than enough for most, unless you store a lot of video, in which case you probably already have a large external drive.
This laptop also has wireless N. While that is nice, it is only a selling point for some users. It is useful if you have multiple computers on the wireless network or stream a lot of video (see below), but the bandwidth you pay for from your ISP is usually the limiting factor.
There is only one computer on my wireless so I chose not to upgrade my wireless router. I was able to stream the high-quality hulu from my laptop to my TV without a hiccup over wireless G.
The biggest con about this laptop is that it is an extreme finger-print attractor. HP provides a cloth and it looks good, so tough to really complain.
The other weird thing I noticed was that the laptop will exit full-screen mode when you adjust the volume using the laptop's touch controls. Could be the on-screen laptop volume software, Hulu, Firefox or even Windows 7.
There is a minimal amount of bloatware installed. Good job by HP not falling into the Dell trap.
The combo of the T6600 Core 2 Duo, 4 GB of DDR3, 12-cell battery, 7200 RPM hard-drive typically is going to cost you somewhere near the list price of this laptop, but thanks to Amazon, you can score it for up to 3 bills less.

I ordered this product on November 19 and they said it will take 4 to 7 weeks to get the product but amazon fooled me. I received this product yesterday. i was so excited about this laptop. It is absolutely beautiful. Way to go Hp you have outdone yourselves. As soon as I received it, I set it up. It was as easy as 1,2,3. I could not put this laptop down. I stayed up til 3am fooling around with this laptop. The multitasking on this thing is so fast. Wow! Windows 7 is awesome. I love all the new features that they included. The battery is very big but i knew that before i ordered it. The battery last me about 8 hrs. Yes this laptop is a fingerprint magnet but no big deal. Hp included a nice little cloth so you can keep this beauty clean. So if you want a nice looking laptop that is a powerful performer, pick up this Hp Dv6-1350us. You wont regret it!
Excellent appearance and good technical performance.

The price of this machine is a favor to be the place. Their performance is really quality. Compared to other laptops with similar price highlights the T6600 processor, DDR3 memory and video card make a difference.
It has a sturdy construction and 12-cell battery makes more independence to work without worrying about having a power source nearby. |
